A Great Realisation

Hey guys, I suspected I wouldn't last very long here... Getting bored and forgetting to post: typical things that I do every time I start any kind of blog like thing.  But never mind that, because being an active blogger will never be my forte.

Anyway, I have been thinking to myself a lot lately about myself and my fashion and lifestyle choices, and I've come to a realisation. If you notice, when I started this blog originally, I had the intention of becoming more Goth. But now, thinking about it, I can see now that whilst the Goth subculture plays a rather large part in who I am, that's not all that I am. There are so many different styles that I like, and I don't see why I shouldn't have a little bit of all of them in my look!
I'm the one in the front, wearing the suit 'n' shades. This was for a Children In Need fancy dress day at my school.
I'm supposed to be one of the Blues Brothers.
I love this look. It's quite androdgynous in its own way, and very smart.
I love wearing suits (Like the one in the picture above), and I love the androdgynous look! I'm quite happy to wear men's clothes, and shirts, ties and braces make me drool.

However, on the complete opposite side of the scale, I love long frilly skirts and corsets (Although I won't be wearing them for a long time yet, I mean really, I'm only 13), and various other ultra feminine things! I also like 50s clothing, victorian clothing, and just lazy casual jeans and t-shirts!

Also, with regards to music, I love all kinds of music. I like everything from All Time Low to Emilie Autumn to Lady Gaga! And plenty of others...

So, you know... I think that it's perfectly okay to enjoy and immerse yourself in various different styles, and there's no harm in experimenting!

All in all, I've come to terms with the fact that I'll never be 100% Goth or 100% Punk or whatever, but I'll be my own unique self!

Aaaargh! I am the worst Procrastinator!

Gaaah... I haven't written a blog post in nearly a week! That is what you'd call disgraceful. I knew this would happen though...
Buuut never mind... I should just attempt to summarise everything I was going to post over the past 6 days into one blog post (Oh my Goth, this is going to be painful).

Okay, so, on Saturday last week, I went to Inverness (You will have no idea where this is, trust me. But let's just say it's a small city about two hours south from where I live) and got more clothes! I managed to find a thermal shirt (It's so toasty, and looks awesome under t-shirts. I almost look like Sheldon from TBBT...), a pair of stripy legwarmers with pumpkins on them, some leggings (But a bit of the stiching has come undone already. Goddamnit Primark) aaaand... some girl boxers XD But, the good news is, I found Gothy underwear. The boxers have green glow-in-the-dark (No joke) skull'n'crossbones, and the waistband says "Hands off!" - Cheeky! :P
So, that was a pretty awesome find! I am very pleased with all that. A good day was had, mostly, although I visited my Grandad in hospital, and unfortunately, he has been diagnosed with cancer... Something I am not too pleased with, but I am not going to get myself upset over it, because he is not likely to die anytime soon. But I am still quite sad, and so is my Mum...

Okay, on another note, Halloween is nearly upon us! Whooo! Tomorrow I'm going to the so-called "Haunted House" (It's basically just a building that the local firemen have decked out all spookily like a trauma house, and they try to freak you out and stuff. Apparently, it's actually quite freaky) with the Scouts (Trust me, being Goth and being in the Scouts is unbeliveably awkward), and then I'll be going out trick or treating with my friends on Halloween (Of course I'm going! You're never too young to go out on Halloween!), and I'll be sure to take lots of pictures of all my friends' awesome costumes (and my own!).

And then, the week after, I'm going to a weekend camp with the Scouts (Yes, I do a lot of scouty stuff) on Bonfire night, and we're gonna have a BBQ!

Oh, and school has started back up again for me! Which is probably why I have been neglecting my blog... Accursed homework. Thankfully, it's nearly the weekend, because I'm exhausted already! Getting up early does bad things to my health... It's good to see all my friends again though!

Okay, and I haven't got a chance to take any pictures of my new clothes because of school work and other general irritating things...

Oh, and on my Saturday travels, I purchased some plain black longsleeve t-shirts which I plan to do a bit of Gothic DIY to! Seeing as my Spiral tee no longer fits me, I'm going to use Amy's wonderful Cut'n'Paste tutorial so I can still wear it (Technically XD). I am going to approach this DIY business very cautiously, as I don't want to trash clothes that my Mum spent well-earned cash on! Does anyone have any good tips for DIY?

I think that's everything...? Pfft...

Well, goodnight everyone~

Neon Dog Collars And Retro Games

Greetings!

Gaah... I'm so lazy! I didn't post anything yesterday because I was being lazy and idiotic. So, yeah.

Right, well, I'm a VERY happy ginger today, because I went downtown to rummage in the charity shops, and I found a few truly awesome things. Unfortunately, I can't get any pictures until tomorrow or so, because my Mum has a strict rule of washing everything I buy from a charity shop before I can wear it, which is a reasonable thing to do, I suppose.

Well, I managed to find myself two awesome t-shirts, one of which has what looks like the name of a Canadian (hockey? Oh the stereotypes...) team, the 'Maple Leaves'. I dunno, but I like it. And the other shirt is just. It's a bit like this one, but I think it's way cooler. Oh, and the skirt was a cute little just-above-the-knee grey skirt with buttons down the front. It's lovely.

Onto another topic (That I was going to mention in the post that I was supposed to write yesterday.), in the summer, my friend was down in London, and she went to Camden Market (Lucky bitch. She went there before I did, and she's not even that into Goth clothes. Man, I am jelly.) and brought me back this brilliant bright neon-orange studded dog collar. It's fab.
Isn't it great?
But gaah... Icky blue t-shirt.
The problem is, it doesn't look good with any of my clothes.... It's just far too bright. I suppose it would look good with clothes of a similar brightness/colour (Or clubbing stuff, which I am not wearing while I still live with my parents), but I don't have/can't find anything that I like in such a bright colour...
Any ideas? I am at a complete loss. It's so cool, I really want to be able to wear it out, but I have nothing to wear it with...
Why so serious? XD
Please ignore the face. I was tired yesterday.

So yeah, all in all, a good day was had today. I went swimming, which was good fun. Then I spent my evening playing footie and hockey at my local Scouts group. (Yes, I go to scouts, and yes, I like playing football. What unusual Goth behaviour!)

After all that, my feet are pretty crippled. I am definitely appreciating the sweet release of my computer chair more than normal.

Well, I hope everyone else had a good day!

'Ello, and Welcome!

'Ello there, and welcome to my blog!

Now, I have tried many a time to start a blog, and all of my attempts ended in my becoming extremely bored, or partaking in various procrastinatory activities so as to put off updating. So yeah... I'm what you might call a 'hopeless blogger'. But, I'm going to change all that, because I am determined to start a blog and keep it up and running!

So, it's likely that you're wondering what the purpose of this blog is. Basically, I have a deep unparallelled love for the Goth subculture, and I want nothing more to be a member of the Goth scene, and I'm going to use this blog to get in touch with other Goths! However, there are some basic issues with the whole process of 'Gothing up', as it were.

  • I'm 13, living with my parents, therefore they still have quite a bit of control over what clothes I can buy, meaning no to the following: Corsets, fishnet/ripped tights, and pointy studded things. Which is a damn shame, considering how much I adore corsets... But never mind. I'll be able to wear a corset one day. Fishnet tights, on the other hand, will probably never happen for me. (My parents have the impression that people will 'get the wrong idea about me' if I wear fishnets. Which I can almost understand. Almost.)
  • Goth clothing is expensive, and I know that every Goth out there knows that all too well. Which is an even bigger issue, because the money I spend on clothes comes from my parents, who aren't too fond of spending lots of money on clothes for me...
  • There is absolutely no Goth scene in this town. No events, clothing stores, nothing at all. The nearest Goth events are a 5-hour car journey away. I'm sorry, but no.
Those are all the main issues I can think of. It's clear that the main issues lie with the fashion side of Gothdom, as Goth music is pretty easy for me to find and expand on, thanks to the excessive amount of time I spend on the internet.

Regardless of the problems I shall have to overcome, I am going to try my hardest to make do with what I have, so I can make the Goth subculture a much bigger part of my life!

This photo was taken a while ago, so my hair is way shorter than in this picture, but yeah.
Please excuse the derpy face and obvious Trekkie-ness.
Looking at me in the picture above, I have to wonder how I can turn someone that looks like that, into a mistress of the night. Luckily for me, it might not be entirely difficult. I was fortunate enough to be blessed with pale skin (But goddamnit do I hate my rosy cheeks), and I have discovered that I suit black very nicely.

There is one thing that irks me very much. My hair. I refuse point blank to touch my hair with dye that doesn't come out in a wash or two. Aka, I am never dying my hair. Which presents the problem - How can I style my hair to make it look lovely and Gothic, without dying it? I fail to see the answer, because I am stupid. Any suggestions?

But alas (Oh, how very poetic. /sarcasm everywhere), I shall try my best and hope for the outcome to be a good one!

Much love,
Chloe x
